Pilar Alvarez e Claudio Hoffman

Claudio Hoffmann è un coreografo, un ballerino e un insegnante di danza e di balli argentini folk. Pilar Alvarez, ballerina classica e contemporanea, ha iniziato la sua carriera artistica al Teatro Colon di Buenos Aires. In seguito, ha studiato danza contemporanea e composizione coreografica al Teatro Municipal General San Martìn con le insegnanti Margarita Terragno e Karemia Moreno (Balletto), Jorge Gale e Ana Marìa Stekelman (Danza Contemporanea).
Entrambi hanno studiato tango con Antonio Todaro, Pepito Avellaneda e Pablo Pugliese. Dal 1989, insieme ad Ana Marìa Stekelman (Direttrice del Balletto di Danza Contemporanea), hanno sperimentato una fusione di tango con la danza contemporanea, esibendosi in Imàgenes de Tango, Tango Màximo, Tangokinesis a Buenos Aires, in Francia, in Israele, al Kuopio Dance Festival in Finladia, all’American Dance Festival negli Stati Uniti. Negli ultimi dieci anni hanno lavorato con noti esponenti del Tango Argentino come Horacio Salgàn, Roberto Goyeneche, Rubèn Juàrez, Leopoldo Federico, Adriana Varela, Raùl Lavié, Horacio Ferrer, Juan Carlos Copes e Eduardo Aquimbau (dal Tango Argentino). Si sono esibiti con l’Orchestra di Néstor Marconi nello spettacolo Tanguissimo 91 in Giappone, al Melbourne Festival ’92 e con Daniel Binelli e Antonio Agriand a Granada  nel 1995. Hanno anche danzato al Festival Internacional de Tango de Paris ’97. Come coppia di solisti sono stati invitati a prendere parte a “The Night of Stars” alla National Opera della Finlandia, con eccezionali figure del balletto internazionale come Oliver Matz e Steffi Schezer (primi ballerini all’Opera di Berlino), Jorma Elo (Netherlands Ballet), Agnes Letestun e Jean Guillaume Bartin (primi ballerini dell’Opera di Parigi) José L’Udaeta e il Balletto Nazionale della Finlandia, dove hanno eseguito le loro coreografie.
Hanno recitato nei film Tango Taube Argentina (Svezia) e Quejas de Bandoneòn (Germania) e hanno diretto il balletto del programma televisivo argentino “El Gran Debut”. Sono membri della compagnia Tango Pasiòn e, insieme alla famosa orchestra di tango Sexteto Mayor, si sono esibiti a Kolner Philarmonic (Cologne), Deutschen Opera (Berlino), Conference Hall of Kremlin (Mosca), Théâtre des Champs Elysées (Parigi), Anfiteatro dell’Acropoli (Atene), Le Stadium di Montecarlo, Concert Hall di Taiwan ecc.
Sono inoltre i fondatori della compagnia Tango Metropolis che ha presentato i suoi spettacoli anche al Black Box Theater (Monaco), e all’Octogone (Pully, Svizzera) insieme a Philippe Lizon (della Compagnia di Maurice Béjart).
Hanno messo in scena il loro spettacolo Tango Metropolis con la partecipazione di Daniel Binelli durante il Festival Internazionale Buenos Aires ’98, durante il quale sono stati definiti «un’eccellente compagnia» e «la proposta più interessante di questo festival».

Claudio Hoffman is a choreographer, a dancer and a teacher of dance and Argentinean folk dance. Pilar Alvarez, classical and modern ballet dancer, began her artistic career at the Colon Theatre in Buenos Aires. Later, she studied contemporary dance and choreography at the Teatro Municipal General San Martìn with the teachers Margarita Terragno and Karemia Moreno (ballet), Jorge Gale and Ana Marìa Stekelman (contemporary dance).
Both studied tango with Antonio Todaro, Pepito Avellaneda and Pablo Pugliese. Since 1989, together with Ana Marìa Stekelman (leader of the Contemporary Dance Ballet), they have experimented a fusion of tango with contemporary dance, performing Imàgenes de Tango, Tango Màximo, Tangokinesis in Buenos Aires, France, Israel, at the Kuopio Dance Festival in Finland and at the American Dance Festival in the United States. During the past 10 years they have worked with well known representatives of the Argentinean Tango, such as Horacio Salgàn, Roberto Goyeneche, Rubèn Juàrez, Leopoldo Federico, Adriana Varela, Raùl Lavié, Horacio Ferrer, Juan Carlos Copes e Eduardo Aquimbau (of the Tango Argentino). They have performed with the Néstor Marconi Orchestra in the show Tanguissimo 91 in Japan, at the 1992 Melbourne Festival and at the Festival Internacional de Tango de Paris in 1997. As solo partners they were invited to take part in The Night of Stars at the Finland National Opera, beside outstanding international ballet stars such as Oliver Matz and Steffi Schezer (main leads at the Berlin Opera), Jorma Elo (Netherlands Ballet), Agnes Letestun and Jean Guillaume Bartin (main leads at the Opera in Paris) Jose L’Udaeta and the National Ballet of Finland, where they performed their own choreographies.
They acted in the film Tango Taube Argentina (Sweden) and Quejas de Bandoneòn (Germany) and directed the ballet of the Argentinean television program El Gran Debut. They are members of the Tango Pasiòn company and, together with the famous tango orchestra Sexeto Mayor, they appeared at the Kolner Philarmonic (Cologne), the Deutschen Opera (Berlin), the Conference Hall at the Kremlin (Moscow), the Théatre des Champs Elysées (Paris), the Amphitheatre of the Acropolis (Athens), Le Stadium of Montecarlo, the Concert Hall in Taiwan, etc.
Moreover, they are the founders of the ensemble Tango Metropolis, which has also performed at the Black Box Theatre (Munich) and at the Octogone (Pully, Switzerland) with Philippe Lizon (of the Maurice Béjart Company).
They staged their Tango Metropolis show with Daniel Binelli at the Festival Internacional Buenos Aires in 1998, when they were acclaimed “an excellent company” and “the most interesting proposal of this festival”.
