Spellbound Dance Company



La Spellbound Dance Company inizia la sua attività nel 1994. Fondata e diretta da Mauro Astolfi,
la Compagnia si caratterizza per una ricerca coreografica improntata alla commistione di generi, generando spettacoli che si propongono come contenitori di emozioni, immagini, suoni e gesti
in costante evoluzione. La scelta è di non restringere la definizione entro uno specifico stile ma
dare spazio alla sperimentazione e alla rielaborazione di tutte le possibili gestualità del balletto, sfruttando la valenza artistica della danza come linguaggio muto fatto di movimenti, frammenti
di immagini solo suggerite dalle linee dei corpi per lasciare spazio alla fantasia e trasposizione creativa della sensibilità di chi guarda.
La Spellbound ha solidificato la sua presenza nelle piattaforme di danza nazionali, inserendosi
in tutti i principali Festival e Circuiti e dal 2003 è stata scelta dall’Agenzia Moving Angel di Stoccarda per iniziare un progetto di scambio e sinergia tra Italia e Nord Europa.
Il lavoro assieme tecnico e coinvolgente costruito da Mauro Astolfi con la Compagnia, le ha già fatto toccare palcoscenici e contesti diversi; chiamata più volte da Vittoria Ottolenghi e Vittoria Cappelli in gala e kermesse di danza, la Spellbound ha realizzato creazioni contaminate, nate dalla fusione artistica con altri professionisti come fu per Libertango, costruito assieme ai musicisti del Quintetto Estravagario, e altre pièces dove musica, danza e tecniche multimediali dialogavano apertamente.

The Spellbound Dance company began its activity in 1994. Founded and directed by Mauro Astolfi, the company’s main choreographic research is to mix different genres, creating performances that contain emotions, images, sounds and gestures in constant evolution. The choice is not to limit the range of styles, but to make room for experimentation and re-elaboration of all possible ballet expressions, exploiting the artistic qualities of dancing in the same way that a voiceless language, made of movements, fragments of images barely suggested only by the lines of the body, allows space for the imagination and the empathy of the spectator.
The Spellbound ensemble has consolidated its presence in the national dance world, taking part in all the major Festivals and circuits, and since 2003 has been chosen by the Moving Angel agency in Stuttgart to begin an exchange project between Italy and Northern Europe.
The achievements, both technical and involving, of Mario Astolfi’s work with the company, have already enabled the ensemble to go on stage in several different contexts. Called many times by Vittoria Ottolenghi and Vittoria Cappelli to perform in galas and dance events, the Spellbound has achieved cross-creations, arising from the artistic fusion with other professionals, as in the case of Libertango, created together with the musicians of the Estravagario Quintet, and other scores in which music, dance and multimedia techniques openly interact.
