September 11 2001: Agency VII had only been established for a few days when the devastating events which will forever mark the beginning of the millennium took place.
The Scaliger Site International Photographic Centre, in conjunction with Agency VII, is hosting a reflection on the sequence of events which happened on the day which changed our outlook on everyday life.
James Nachtwey was in New York that day, only a few blocks from the World Trade Center, and he took some of the most haunting photographs documenting the terrorist attack. He was then joined by other members of the agency, and their images constitute the first part of this exhibition held by Agency VII.
However, this exhibition is not limited to the events in New York: the photographers of Agency VII focused most of their attention on Afghanistan and their images give a different perspective on the war conducted by the US over the following months.

The exhibition is based around a number of different episodes marking the post-September 11 era; visitors will be able to follow an itinerary taking them through different regions in the world connected to the events in the US, including the occupied territories in Israel. A complex series of events which still today influence the world and its political, economic and religious order.
Agency VII consists of seven photographers and is based in Florida (Christopher Morris), Hong Kong (John Stanmeyer), London (Gary Knight), New York (James Nachtwey and Antonin Kratochvil) and Paris (Alexandra Boulat). Its distribution in different, distant geographical locations gives a wide perspective of the contemporary world. The exhibition exploits this geographic dislocation not only through a plurality of the subjects treated, but also through photographic narrative and different sensitivities, experiences and cultures, without, however, being organised as a series of personal exhibitions. This is a collective exhibition, allowing space for the dynamism of the group. A group like no other, particularly for its efforts since its inception to develop methods of communication for the photographic image.
