The
exhibition Landscapes -Colors of the Earth is dedicated to
landscapes, displaying around 100 colour photographs: evocative
images taken by a photographer who uses his camera to combine the
real world with his own personal vision.
Thus the images on display at the Scavi Scaligeri are not simple
reproductions of reality, but rather a sort of synthesis between
what Sandro Santioli sees and what he feels, a re/creation of the
photographic subject in a new and personal way.
<<When we succeed in taking a beautiful photograph it
means that we have felt something inside. We cannot succeed in
conveying emotion if we do not feel it ourselves.>>
They are images which cross the threshold between the external
space and our own inner space, where time and place lose their
importance and light, colour and shape transmit the "essence"
of the natural environment which the gaze of the artist has re/discovered
and re/organised.
An almost imaginary journey to places which have a single thing in
common: their beauty.
A journey through a frontier land to <<reach what we see
with our inner eye >>.
Along the photographic itinerary set up in the Scavi Scaligeri in
Verona, the images realised by Santioli offer the spectacle of
landscapes viewed from an unusual angle, highlighting form and
colours, in a succession of evocative and fascinating impressions. |

<<What
matters is the act of photographing,
through
which we do not simply reproduce the subject,
but rather
recreate it in a totally new dimension: our own.
Photography
develops, rediscovers and reorganises>>

Landscape and colour: a combination which was the starting point
for the Sandro Santioli’s photography in his land of origin,
Tuscany, and which then continued over the years in other places
in Italy and abroad.
Landscapes – Colors of the Earth, is thus the result of a
constant quest, during which the personality and sensitivity of
the artist, his personal experience and cultural background are
brought into play just as much as this technical skill, becoming
the key to interpreting reality and the transformation generated
by the creative process.
A quest whose scope is to reach what we see with our inner eye
and: <<which allows one to go beyond reality>>.
Sandro Santioli is a sensitive commentator of the environment, a
narrator who recounts through his images not only what he sees,
but above all what he feels, and the evocative power of this tale
will not fail to enthral visitors to the exhibition. |
